CAGS is pleased to offer a NEW workshop for graduate students, postdocs, and early career researchers to develop their research project management skills and advance the progress of their thesis or dissertation.

This 90-minute webinar, developed by Dr. P. Alison Paprica, PhD, PMP, explains how to use three one-page project management tools to plan and manage research:

  • The work breakdown structure (WBS): a one-page tool to establish a common high-level understanding of research scope expressed in terms of deliverables.

  • The deliverable-based Gantt chart: a one-page tool to describe when and how the deliverables of the research will come together.

  • The deliverable-based tracking sheet: a one-page tool to identify emerging risks and drive progress at a more granular level during the implementation phase of the research.

Tickets will be sold for $15.00 CAD (no tax), and will include participation in the 90-minute training session, all associated materials, and an official certificate of completion. CAGS is a registered charity, and all ticket proceeds will go towards covering the costs of the workshop series.

Tickets are available to graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and other interested parties from CAGS member institutions

EndNote

Will you be working on a thesis or writing up a lot of research papers? Is it challenging to keep your research citation data and PDFs organized and easily accessible? If you’re not already using a citation manager, try out EndNote, a citation management tool that is free to download for all current U of L researchers.

EndNote workshops schedule, as well as video tutorials, can be found here

If you're looking for help in troubleshooting an EndNote problem, feel free to send an email to library.endnote@uleth.ca

NVivo

NVivo workshop dates (for Windows users) are available here.

In your next research project, will you need to analyze a fair amount of qualitative data (e.g., interviews, focus groups, open-ended survey questions)? If so, in this hands-on, two-part workshop for Windows users, you will learn how to use NVivo, an application designed to help organize, analyze, and create meaning from unstructured data. Register or find out more about NVivo here

The University of Hull Library offers a series of short videos on various aspects of NVivo for Windows (Release 1), a slightly older version that is essentially the same as NVivo 14 in functionality and layout, which can be found on this page as well, as there are no workshops over the summer months.

The Education Graduate Students' Association (EdGSA) and the Office of the Associate Dean of Graduate Research at the University of Manitoba invites proposals for the 27th annual Education Graduate Students’ Research Conference. The conference aims to promote education graduate students' research and scholarly activities, allowing them to present and discuss their work in a supportive, academic forum.

Current and recent graduate students from education-related programs are invited to submit proposals that encompass a wide spectrum of educational research and scholarship. We support a diverse range of work spanning various worldviews, ways of knowing, and research methods. This includes but is not limited to Indigenous knowledge systems, community-based research, arts-based research, participatory research, and other robust forms of scholarship that characterize our educational communities.
